Green Bay Camp is located about 5 miles south of the town of Tupper Lake, NY and 17 miles north of Long Lake, NY on Green Bay (now called Whistler's Cove on some maps). Paths crisscross through the woods on our lovely point, which is surrounded by water on three sides. The property has two cottages that were built in 1899 out of pine boards and split logs. Each cottage overlooks the lake and settings are both charming and rustic.
The weather varies greatly, as is usual in the mountains. Summer temperatures may range as much as 30 to 40 degrees in a day.
Highs rarely go above 85 degrees, except on occasional windless days when it can exceed 90 degrees on the dock. Some days may be as cold as 55 degrees, with night temperatures occasionally lower. Average daytime temperatures are in the high 60s and 70s. Rain may be frequent, but usually passes quickly. Often a shower will come at midday and then the rest of the day becomes clear and beautiful. The early mornings are often calm and sunny, and are the best time down at the water.
Besides swimming in the lake and hiking around the property, renters have use of a canoe.
The lake has countless coves and picnic spots to explore. Just sitting on the porch or by the fire, catching up on reading,
and playing board games are favorite past-times. Each cottage has a Ping-Pong table on the porch. Both cottages have telephones. Neither cottage has a TV. The town has recreational facilities including tennis and basketball courts, a playground, and baseball fields. All are near the municipal field where weekly events are staged.
